This trip was fantastic from start to finish!
Pick up/ Drop off:-
Landed in Uluru. Got picked up and was given lunch straight away and headed straight over to see Uluru.
Got dropped off at Yulara to have time to look around and then got the shuttle into the airport (All explained to us by Janner)
Tour guide:- Janner (AMAZING)
Food:- Every meal was made fresh and the group all chipped in to help.
I am vegan and was full after every meal! (Partner says the meat was tasty also)
During all the walks Janner also provided us snacks and cut up fresh fruit after.
Camping:- Was a beautiful experience. Swags are kind of comfy and the hired sleeping bags are warm!
Showers:- Night one and two had hot showers. Night three was camping in the bush but then got taken to have showers at the first camp site.
You never have to feel unclean always have time to shower / get cleaned up.
Things to take note of:-
Do not pack heavy - Make sure to pack thermals nights do get cold.
Fly nets we didn't use as was cold - but can see why they are needed.
Walking shoes recommended (We wore trainers which was fine but now slightly stained red (LOL).
Make the most of the group you are with. We had the most interesting group of people from all walks of life and all ages.
Breath taking starry nights - Did not see one animal to be afraid of!
5am wake up calls!!
Would definitely do this trip again! read less

Our beautiful guide Nicole was an excellent motivator getting us up early to ensure we did not miss out on the great experience. Excellent cooking skills and even shared the secret potato bake recipe as well as the bush bread. Excellent meals were prepared however this was not the reason for the trip.
This is certainly the trip to go where you can experience nature at its finest and it makes one feel so insignificant on the grand scheme of things. Certainly a privelege to experience nature like this at its finest and Nicole made the experience even better.
Thanks Nicole for a great experience 😊 and wish you and the team only the very best.

We really enjoyed every aspect of the tour, with a special thanks to our guide Nicol who made it so memorable.
All of the sights we visited on the tour were amazing in their own way, thank you Nicol for sharing your abundance of knowledge with us. We learnt so much from Nicol about the different sites, cultural significance, aboriginal communities, geology, landscapes and environments. You can expect early starts each morning and hikes ranging from 6km-10km each day, we personally enjoyed this and didn't struggle with anything, but I don't think everybody in the group anticipated this so it's useful to be aware beforehand.
Each night we stayed in a different campsite, our favourite was the bush camp on the final night which was completely secluded with no facilities - amazing outback experience including cooking on the campfire. Sleeping under the stars every night was wonderful, as well as making our own campfires. It can get pretty chilly at night but if you wrap up warm the swags are pretty comfortable, I was nervous about sleeping in a swag before the tour but felt very safe when it came to it. The first two campsites have great amenities including hot showers. This is a group participation tour so everybody in the group is required to lend a hand in cooking and cleaning when it comes to meal times, as well as collecting firewood each day before heading to the campsite. For us, this is all part of the authentic camping experience and we were happy to get involved, but some people seemed surprised that everything wasn't done for them. We are vegetarian and we were well catered for throughout the trip, there was enough food for everybody to have seconds, if not more. Meat eaters get the chance to try kangaroo and camel, which both seemed to be crowd pleasers in our group.
If joining the tour in Alice Springs there is obviously a lot of driving involved. We found the time spent travelling to be okay, we made more than enough stops on each journey to stretch our legs/buy snacks etc. We started and finished in Alice, on day four we left the first campsite at 6:30am and didn't arrive back in Alice until 6:30pm, doing very little in between other than driving/waiting around - lunch was also not provided on this day. By taking the three day tour you would cut out a large chunk of the driving on the last day, but it does mean that you miss out on the bush camp on the third night which was a highlight for us. Personally, we are still happy that we chose the four days as we really enjoyed spending the extra night with our group and the one of a kind wilderness experience in the bush camp, but the other three day option is available if the driving sounds too much for you.
All in all, our tour was very well organised and informative. Nicol is extremely passionate about her job which makes her the perfect tour guide. We were kept very busy on this tour, we came away with so many new experiences. Whilst the tour is very structured, it is worth saying that we didn't feel rushed - we were given enough time to really take in everything around us. My personal highlight - watching the sunset at Uluru.
If you're considering one of the Mulga's tours, step out of your comfort zone and try something new. All you need is an open mind - embrace the once in a lifetime experiences and don't look back! read less

Laura certainly was a lot of fun to have as a tour guide and did everything to make our tour as positive, informative and successful as possible. It was Laura’s 98th tour with the company so she certainly had experience and you could definitely tell she was passionate in regards to the outback landscape, culture and tourist industry in general. She certainly had some good stories to tell.
My favourite parts on the tour were sleeping in front of the fire under the stars and the Kings Canyon walk. Although I did also really enjoy the other walks and sunrises / sunsets.
The tour does involve participation in assisting in preparing meals, washing up, packing and unpacking campsites. On our tour, there was certainly enough food with left overs. I didn’t have any dietary requirements, but I would suggest speaking to the tour guide on the first day to ensure your requirements are met. During all days, there were plenty of snacks provided.
The first two nights are at camp sites that have toilets / shower facilities which were clean and easily accommodate the group. On the last night, you are roughing it at a campsite with no shower and just one toilet for the entire group. It wasn’t a bad thing as it was a fun experience and there is opportunity to shower the next day prior to finishing the tour.
Things to note:
Expect some early starts to see sunrises.
It’s a fairly fast paced tour and you will need to keep up with a fairly structured itinerary. I wouldn’t say we were rushed when doing activities, however, you are kept busy each day.
Given it is a participation tour, you will need to help out in collecting firewood. I have to admit, I did wonder why the tour company didn’t provide a chain saw to make collecting firewood more efficient. However, in the end, with everyone helping out, the job gets done.
Be aware there is some distance travelled on the bus between destinations on this tour, particularly if you are starting and finishing at Alice Springs.
The swags are basic and not the ones with poles.
On my tour, we had about half the individuals on the tour were in the 20s and other half were either in their 30s/40s.
I give the tour 5 stars for the following main reasons
With all that is included (bus transfers to destinations, meals, tour guide) it’s really good value for money. Obviously, you could organise and do the trip on your own accord. However, I honestly don’t think you will be able to do it for too much cheaper than what you pay for the tour. And on the tour, you have a knowledge of the guide and you also get to meet lots of interesting people.
Tour guide Laura was very fun, passionate and knowledgeable. There were a few surprises and things she did that went above and beyond what I expected of her as a tour guide.
Certainly, glad I did the trip and would recommend to friends and family. read less

Sid who lead our group is a fantastic, professional individual and knows so much about the land and has a connection with local aboriginal people which I felt made him not only knowledgeable but respectful of local law which I appreciated. I wasn't the fittest on this tour by far and during the hardest part of the hikes, he would walk with me and was a great support.
The tour itself was amazing, I have never camped before and this was an incredible introduction. It rained on the first day (which was amazing as we got to see waterfalls coming off Uluru) but I had concerns about sleep arrangements that night as a first time camper in a swag but we set up under covered areas of the campsite which was a relief and a great experience. We slept under the stars for the remainder of the tour which was amazing and had a great group of people ranging from 18 to around 40s/50s on our tour who were so friendly.
The walks around Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon were amazing, just keep in mind they are classed as grade 4 hikes. Uluru is a fairly easy walk in comparison. Being prepared is key. We did do the walks early morning which was ideal to beat the heat however on some of the trails there are loose rocks which you need to be aware of when navigating. Regardless, scenery, history and energy of this place is mind blowing and worth the hike.
Lastly, I stupidly placed by backpack back on the bus when we were dropped off after the tour, so my back pack made it's way to Alice Springs. Although I was willing to pay what ever to get it back, Andrea was able to safely and securely get my back pack back to me through the tour community of buses coming back to Uluru without cost, and for this I am deeply grateful. Small businesses really are amazing and I could not imagine travelling any other way in this area of the world unless camping. My friend and I stayed a couple of days after to soak up the glory of Uluru and realised the camp was definitely cost effective for all the things you get to do during your time there.
Covid safety check forms were required prior to attending the camp from all participants and at the airport so we felt safe (for anyone who has concerns). The bathroom facilities were definitely better than I expected for my first camping trip.
Anyways, hope this review helps and thanks Sid and Andrea for your amazing knowledge, hospitality and support.
