If I had been traveling alone, I seriously would have fallen off the cliff. I appreciate that she guided us to the best spots at the best time. I saw a lot of impressive scenery. Er hat für alle wunderbar gekocht, gemeinsam mit uns Lagerfeuer gemacht unter dem Sternenhimmel und sehr schöne Wanderungen durchgeführt. Das Schlafen in swags war dabei ein einzigartiges Camping-Erlebnis. Insgesamt richtet sich die Tour vor allem an kommunikative und offene Adventurer, die auch mal mit anpacken. Leider waren bei unserer Gruppe einige Personen mit dabei die ziemlich lame waren. Somit steht und fällt das Abenteuer auch immer ein wenig mit der Gruppe. Aber Janner hat das alles mit seiner sympathischen und coolen Art wett gemacht. Ich kann Mulga und Janner daher nur wärmstens empfehlen wenn sie eine Reise zum Uluru planen. read less

We would not have found out as much local knowledge about this place if it wasn't for the generosity and knowledge that our tour guide Tegan had shared with us. This experience will be engrained in me for life. Tegan also supported me with some major growth over the tour and I did thing's I never thought I could do. The tour itself was fantastic, you spend the first day at Uluru and start at the Cultural Centre which is vital to get a sense of place and to respect the Anangu.You then see some amazing sites around Uluru and finish with the sunset over Uluru. It's an early wake up after a night camping around the campfire and the swag to see sunrise over Kata Tjuta and then the incredible walk through the valley of the winds. Followed by a visit to King's Creek Station and walking Watarrka (King's Canyon). The last night at bush camp was the best around the campfire and no phone reception. Tegan's games made this even more memorable. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough, don't miss it for a truly unique experience. read less

I really enjoyed the hikes - I only wish we could’ve gone on longer hikes or maybe done two shorter hikes in a day, but I understand we are limited by the daytime heat and that many areas are off-limits for non-indigenous folks. It was a wholesome 'no frills attached' exploration of the area. We slept under the stars in swags and despite it being absolutely freezing, we were nice and warm in our -10 degree rated sleeping bags and hot showers. Food was plentiful also, and I definitely didn't go hungry as a vegetarian (vegans were catered well for too).Our guide Phil (aka Dill), was an absolute legend and a wealth of knowledge. I was a little nervous about sleeping in a swag but it was worth it when I saw the stars, make sure to bring a pillow. Our tour guide Phil was awesome. Super organised, chatty, kind and knowledgeable. Straight away he got to know all of us, he project managed all our activities, camp, road trips, toilet breaks and snacks stops, (cut up fruit, apples, cereal bars, chips, dips, Tim tams - Phil had thought of it all) seamlessly, our group gelled well as a result. My wife and I went on the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Uluru Tour... read moreMy wife and I went on the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Uluru Tour (Rock-to-Rock tour) this past week, our guide was Phil, and it was the best experience of our 6 months stay in Australia!Phil was incredible! He answered all our questions, ensured we were all well fed and that all of the guests on the trip felt included. There were 21 of us in total on this tour. Our group was half and half (couples and singles), all ages (18 to middle aged) and from all walks of life and 6 different countries. Everyone enjoyed themselves, young and old, singles and couples. In full transparency, doing this trip was my wife’s idea and at first, I was hesitant. I was unsure about sleeping in a swag (for the first time), the heat, the flies and how pitching in around camp would work. In the end, I loved all of it! The swag was super fun, comfortable and sleeping under the outback stars was out of this world. The heat was hot in the day but not so bad at night, even cool one night. The flies were annoying but didn’t bite and went away at night, and working together around camp gave us the chance to get to know our fellow travelers.If you enjoy meeting new people, trying new things, experiencing the outback in a very unique/grassroots way and having a lot of fun then do yourself a favour and book the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Rock-to-Rock Uluru tour. You will love it! I’m sure the other guides are great too but Phil was amazing. Thank you Phil!A few other things to note. We stayed 2 nights in Alice springs before the trip. And yes, there are cultural issues going on in the town. We never for a moment felt in danger or at risk. Don’t let this stop you from doing the Mulgas Adventures tours or visiting Alice Springs. We were able to safely explore the town during the day and acknowledge it’s uniqueness while respecting the locals and the current challenges they are going through. We also hiked over to the Mulgas Adventures property to ask a few questions the day before we left. And even though it’s mostly an industrial site where they store and maintain their buses and equipment, as it should be for a tour company, one of the owners Andrea stopped what she was doing and took the time to help us out and answer all our questions. She was friendly and welcoming and went out of her way to connect with us and make us feel comfortable about our tour. If I did it over again, I would just call or email Andrea next time but it was nice to meet her in person. She’s a hard working entrepreneur who clearly genuinely cares about her guests, the guides and the people who work with her. Thank you Phil, Andrea and the rest of Mulgas Adventures team! The camping in swags was much better than expected - they were pretty comfy too. Our guide Jason was amazing - knowledgable, got everyone involved and always made sure we all had fun. There was SO much food and it was always so tasty. I’m a vegetarian and there was so many meat alternatives - they don’t just give you a boring bean burger haha. We never went hungry as there was also so many snacks along the way. Our group was fantastic. Everyone got on really well. Despite going with my partner, there were many solo travellers but we all mixed - if you’re a solo traveller, don’t worry. We were all one big group 🙂 We got picked up from Alice Springs right on time and dropped back off when the tour finished. Only down side was the flies - 100% bring a fly net as they are lethal and in your face. However, they do disappear once sun sets. She had card games and things for us to do on the long car journeys and she was really knowledgeable about every place we visited and the outback in general! The tour itself is amazing, visiting Uluru, Kata Tjuṯa and Kings Canyon and learning a mixture of culture, history and geology. She was super knowledgeable and had a wonderful way about explaining the history, cultural aspects and even the geological phenomena that created the incredible formations that we saw. She also took great care to impart upon us the sacredness and cultural importance of these sites to the aboriginal people of Uluru and made sure that we knew where and when it was appropriate to take photographs. Her enthusiasm was contagious and I believe it made the group more eager and adventurous, and - for a better word- “ less cranky” about the awful weather. In fact, she made us all see the heavy rain as a positive, calling us the lucky 2% that get to see waterfalls at these sites. We actually went “chasing waterfalls.”She was able to be flexible and turn on a dime when things didn’t go exactly as planned and made it all seem seamless. Thank you for arranging alternative sleeping arrangements for us on the last night which was meant to be a bush night. We fell in love with the colours and endless space. She was very knowledgeable in her interesting (but random) bush facts and knew the answers to most of our questions. The tour is one of the cheaper ones on offer but in my opinion definitely the best. This is because instead of being put into posh hotels for the nights you get to spend time cooking eating and sharing stories round the campfire together such that by the end of the trip you feel like you have known your fellow tourers for years. By far the best night is the last night when you get the full bush camping experience. You dig your own toilet as a team and help prepare food for cooking on the campfire. An unforgettable experience even without the red rocks we all came to see. read less

Going to Uluṟu was already a bucketlist item for me but Mulgas’ 4-day Rock-to-Rock tour... read moreGoing to Uluṟu was already a bucketlist item for me but Mulgas’ 4-day Rock-to-Rock tour turned it into an experience of a lifetime. A massive shoutout to the legendary Ben! We had a really great group but we wouldn’t have had that much fun without him. Some key highlights:- Learning about the places in such an incredible way. It was a good balance of First Nations knowledge, history and science. Ben delivered the knowledge in such a fun way he could be a teacher! I don’t think I would’ve understood how orogeny happens if he didn’t explain it the way he did.- As someone who loves trekking, I was grateful that we got to take our time to do the longest tracks in every place and enjoy them instead of being rushed. We trekked 7-8km almost every day in Uluṟu, Kata Tjuṯa, Watarrka. They were worth the 5am wake-up calls every morning. We also got some cool tunes to wake up to so the early hours weren’t too rough.- Sleeping under the stars with a clear view of the Milky Way every day was incredible. I was nervous about sleeping in the outdoors, in a swag, in the desert/bush in the dead of winter but the swags and sleeping bags were very warm. We slept around the fire every night too.- We were fed VERY well, and always had energy to do all of the physical activities that the tour entails. For example, we always began a trek with some muesli bars and ended it with fruit (on top of brekky). I am impressed at how many brekky options we got every morning! We had really hearty and delicious lunch and especially dinner. The consensus agreed that Ben’s cooking is superb. I have had many kangaroo steaks but the one I had on this trip was the best one. Ben also pulled off an incredible caramel cake that was baked in the fire. I truly appreciated Mulgas accomodating my dietary requirement too (dairy free).- The best part of all was the participatory nature of the tour. We helped with the cooking, washing up, carrying eskies and containers, even finding firewood! It was a fun way to get to know the other amazing participants in the tour. Thank you Ben for being an absolute ledge! read less

However, we had great camp food and I was never hungry. It was an unforgettable experience of exploring the Australian outback and seeing some of the best landmarks in the country. We were picked up from the Ayers Rock Airport shortly after landing, where we met our friendly and knowledgeable guide, Alex. He drove us in an air-conditioned bus to our first destination, Uluru and we walked around the base of Uluru where Alex shared some information and stories about the culture and geology. In the evening, we watched the sunset over Uluru and toasted with a glass of bubbly before heading back to the campsite for dinner. The next day, we woke up early to witness the sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock). It was a magical sight to see the rock changing colors as the sun rose. We then headed to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). We hiked around the stunning rock formations and learned about their cultural significance. We then drove to Kings Canyon (Watarrka) about a 3.5 hour drive, with a couple stops to see a salt lake and Mount Conner and to collect some firewood, where to our exclusive bushcamp, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and slept under the stars in swags. On the third day we did a hike along the rim of the Kings canyon at sunrise. We saw amazing views of the canyon and the surrounding landscape. We also visited the Garden of Eden, a lush oasis in the middle of the desert. We then returned to our bushcamp in Ylara for another night of camping and stargazing. The tour was well-organized, fun, and informative. Alex was a great guide who shared his passion and knowledge of the outback with us. Felt like we were able to be part of the tour, getting the fires going cooking dinners together, cleaning up etc. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the best of the Australian outback. It was one of the highlights of my trip and I will never forget it. read less

Everything was so seemless and timed so well! Picked up with ease from the airport by our fabulous guide Lauren. We explored Uluṟu, learned about the culture and had champagne at sunset. The days at Kata Juta and kings canyon were equally amazing! We camped each night under the stars in sleeping bags and swags. I was extremely nervous about camping but Lauren reassured us throughout. I’m a vegetarian, the food was so tasty and versatile. Even got some veggie Bolognese cooked on the campfire and pancakes on the last day! The itinerary was extremely well organised, and we packed in far more than we could have self-arranged but with perfect cadence (Kings Canyon on the last day was a highlight for us!) Our tour guide Lauren was fantastic, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and clearly doing her best to maximise enjoyment of everyone in the group. A great mix of medium difficulty hiking (~7km half days with early starts, which is all you need in the hot conditions) and campfire and bbq (ample food and snacks provided throughout the day). Sleeping in a swag around the campfire under the stars was a highlight and super comfy. Be prepared to pitch in and gather fire wood, and contribute to cooking and cleaning around camp - in our opinion this added to the authenticity of experience and bonded the group and allows the company to deliver such great value for money. read less

Alex was the tour leader and James was the trainee tour guide.The bus was comfortable and clean with books about the region, and the history of the things we were going to see on tour as well as games to keep us occupied.Alex was very knowledgeable about everything we were seeing, whether it was teaching us about the myriad of Flora and Fauna, to the history of the places we toured and also explaining about the wildlife. He made the tour very interesting and educational.The food was amazing. Fresh, plentiful and there was a wide variety of cuisine. The bush BBQ was absolutely awesome. Alex made a fresh damper and cooked it on the campfire. First day was very special having sparkling wine and snacks watching the sun setting at Uluru.James was a great trainee. He asked questions, made written notes, was extremely helpful in also looking after us and, like Alex, he made sure we had everything we needed, organised games, did some awesome cooking. Alex was also great mentor to James.Also, in terms of dietary preferences, Alex ensured the individuals who put down specific dietary needs/food allergies were well informed as to their choices and if there was anything else he could do to ensure they had a safe food experience.I also loved that near the end of the walk, Alex went on ahead to cut up a delicious bowl of fresh fruit for when we finished the walk.We felt safe with Alex and James. At Kings Canyon, Alex walked at the back of everybody going up the steep stairs to ensure we were ok as they were very rocky steps, and he also made sure we were well away from the edge of the canyon.In summary, Alex and James worked so hard and ensured we were well looked after, well informed and were very knowledgeable in cultural awareness as we had many different nationalities on tour. They were very engaging with us and it was fun participating in camp chores and food prep. They were both good ambassadors for the corporate image of Mulgas Adventures.Alex gave a lovely speech at the end of the tour and presented us with our Mulgas T-shirts as some of us had booked online and everyone also was given a goody bag of Mulgas merchandise. A nice touch to mark the end of the tour.I enjoyed myself so much, that I am going to book the same tour near the end of the year.It can get cold, so maybe wear a beanie for bed, but the swags we had were extremely cosy and the sleeping bag I hired from Mulgas was so warm, I didn't need anything else. We had plenty of snacks given at the beginning, middle and end of the walks and there was a wide variety to choose from, but take some on the tour if you have your favourite snacks you like to eat, but I never felt hungry. The trip completely exceeded my expectations thanks to Lauren. From sunrises and sunsets at Uluru, to hiking up heart attack hill at Kings Canyon, it was such an incredible experience!! Lauren was just an exceptional guide and I couldn't have asked for better. She was so much fun, so kind and full of information about all of the sites! We even got a few stories about the stars which I loved! The experience as a whole was amazing from start to finish. It was alot more outback than I expected, but Lauren went out of her way to make us feel more comfortable and after leaning into the experience, I fell in love with swag camping! Sleeping around the campfire and under the stars every night was more magnificent than I ever expected. Food was amazing, getting everyone involved and trying a real aussie bbq of kangaroo! Plenty of fruit and snacks to keep you going throughout the day. The tour is perfect for solo travellers or people in small groups as you have a great mix of both! I met so many amazing people on the trip from all over the world and of all different ages. I would highly recommend this tour to really experience Central Australia, as from living in Sydney this is very different, but in the best way possible! Great experience, delicious food, amazing views, good length walks/hikes, comfy and warm sleeping bag and swag. Me and my friend did the 3 nights 4 day Rock to Rock tour, pickup and drop off in Alice Springs. We were lucky enough to see it rain on the rock which is very unlikely, however this meant the road to King's Canyon was flooded and we were unable to do the full itinerary of camping and hike there, and on the last night camp at a bush camp. Despite the sad news, I believe the tour was still worth it, as we got to see Uluru again this time red as the weather had cleared up. We also got to see a few other places and we were dropped off at the local town to have a look and could go to a restaurant and pub to compensate which was really nice.With it being Laura's first time out of 130 tours to see it rain on the rock and bucket down at the campsite I believe she did an outstanding job of ensuring we were all okay and that most things stayed dry. We had the option to sleep in the laundry room rather than outside under a sheltered area (however 2 of the 4 walls were were exposed so rain could come in) which was a great alternative. Our bags and luggage was stored in a lockable dry storage area, or in the trailer or on the bus. The food was delicious, a large variety of different foods to choose from for every meal. The showers were nice and hot and clean. Overall it was such an amazing tour! read less

We always got a lot to eat and snacks for inbetween, you won't starve on this tour! Ben always watched after everyone and made sure everyone was good and happy. He also was so thoughtful all the time, telling us the plans for what to do next, whether this is now the last toilet for the next few hours, and many more little things he did. We had so much fun on this tour with our group and Ben and i can't recommend this tour enough. During the whole tour I felt like I was part of some sort of movie. I got sucked in all the stories about the aboriginal culture and it felt like I was living a dream. The food was amazing and sleeping under the stars in a swag is something I’ll never forget. But what the tour made even more unforgettable: the tour guide. Tourguide Tegan is the best tour guide I’ve had so far. The way she speaks: with so much passion and knowledge. Tegan was the bridge between me, a 25-year old backpacker, and the aboriginal culture. Now I understand the way aboriginals live and think way better and I started to admire the culture. Liv was an amazing guide always keeping the enthusiasm super high (WOO) and sharing so much knowledge about the creation time stories and geological formation of the sacred sites. I learnt so so much on this trip but also had SO much fun - dancing at bush camp, yelling Woo into Kings Canyon and looking down from the top part of Kata-Tjuta were definite highlights. Sleeping in Swags under the stars added so much to the experience and Liv’s wake up playlists were the perfect way to start the day! She had clear knowledge of the area and managed to get us all to each location early enough that the heat did not cause any issues. Our tour guide Simon was fantastic: funny, resourceful and knowledgeable. He took great care of us as a group (even surprising us with bonfire-baked chocolate cake), ensured a good vibe among the people in the group and shared many interesting facts and stories about Uluru. This adventure has over-exceeded my high expectations and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the Red Center in an authentic but fun way. read less

I had the absolute best time on this tour and I would recommend it to anyone but the care, passion and fire that Olivia had in her heart with everything she did, showed us and told us took this tour from a 10/10 to a 100/10. We slept under the stars every night, hiked, saw some breathtaking views and learnt so much about the culture in the Red Centre. You get to see the amazing landscapes of kings canyon, and uluru, sunrises, sunsets, whilst doing hikes early to avoid the heat means plenty of time to chill in the middle of the day. it's a long drive to kings canyon and back but worth it, and bush camp on the last evening is an incredible experience. Amazing tour guides (thanks Liv you made the trip so fun and enjoyable (esp loved the soundtrack into the wild camp!)) who go above and beyond to make the trip specialOne of the best tours I've done in Australia so far! read less

She was extremely knowledgeable and learned us a lot about the aboriginal culture with all of her enthiousiasm. I went on the tour with my parents who were at first a little sceptic about sleeping in swags in the winter. Nevertheless, this has never been an issue as all 3 nights were more than fine! The 5AM wake ups were not a problem at all as it allowed us to see so much amazing things! The tour was perfectly balanced and the itinerary was perfect. The food included was sufficient and more/better than expected. I would highly recommend this tour if you would like to experience the outback! What a MUST...! read less

So far the highlight of our travels through Australia! We had never imagined to find ourselves sleeping under the stars in the outback.We would definitely recommend it to anyone! The tour was very well-organised and the itinerary was really thought through. It covered all the highlights this region has to offer. Laura knew the ins and outs of the area so that we were able to catch beautiful sunrises and views before all the crowds got there. She timed the hikes perfectly to avoid the extreme heat. (Little tip: don’t start the tour with a hangover or a lack of sleep - you’ll regret it ;))She was an incredible tour guide, cook, driver and very knowledgeable!Overall, the tour was great value for money!
