We had Phil as our tour guide and he really made the trip. He had so much knowledge about the sites we visited, the history, what the best walks were, types of plants, the areas geography and most importantly where all the toilets are!I'm vegan and always get nervous about what the food will be like on tours. However, we had great camp food and I was never hungry. Phil even made me vegan pancakes on the last morning so I didn't feel left out! 10/10 I've already been recommending the tour to everyone I know! read less

It was a very very impressive tour, so great to see all those magical places like mount Uluru, Kata Tjuṯan and Kings Canyon and walk through the land. Our guide Tegan was the best! She gave us a real good understanding of the aboriginal culture and could not have taught with more respect, dignity and sincerity about her insights she has gained while staying with and talking to members of the aboriginal culture for a long time. It was all very well organised, great spirit and fun with the group. Tegan also was running everything greatly on her own, when her supervising co-worker had to go to the hospital due to an emergency. Absolute recommendation to book a trip with Mulga! read less

He was a great guide and knew a lot about the places where we stayed and the areas we visited. Everything wad very well arranged, also the vegetarians meals. The pub quiz during a long ride, chocolate cake cooked on the camp fire, and breakfast in Swag were the cherries on the cake. The swags were surprisingly comfortable. Only the packing list we got upfront was not too clear and if we were able to bring our large backpacks or not (yes you can bring them but you have to put them in a storage. Take a smaller bag for the trip itself). read less

We were picked up at our accommodation in Alice Springs on time and our adventure started. Liv drove us to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon and several stops between over the 4 days. It was a great way to see "the red centre" and it's beautiful sights, I loved camping under the stars and being driven from place to place in the bus. The cultural commentary was clear and easy to understand as were instructions at camp sites and times to be back on the bus and how much free time we had. I highly recommend seeing the great sights of the Northern Territory this way. I'd go again in a heart beat. read less

The guides were able to take us to the main places in the area and truly made it an incredible experience! The tour guide James was incredible and really made the experience one of a kind with his inspirational stories and you could tell he really cared about the group and wanting us to have a great time! I had the best time with Lauren (our guide) and the group. It was a very unique and special trip and literally everything was just perfect. Visiting the Uluru has always been a childhood dream and this tour exceeded all my expectations. Lauren is the best guide I could have ever imagined (although I believe that all the guides are great but I might be a bit biased because Lauren was the perfect fit for our group). She was always in a good mood, positive, informative and you could tell she loved and enjoyed the tour as much as we did! We fell in love with the colours and endless space. We shared this with people of many ages and nationalities which we loved - we all pitched in to make meals and make the huge campfire etc. We also learned a fair bit about the local indigenous people and their history. I went last year with friends and loved it so much I immediately rebooked and took my family this year . The tour was taken by Olivia, and I have to say it was AMAZING. I have lived in Australia my entire life (29 years) and am still discovering this great land. Olivia was so passionate and respectful when showing our group the beautiful sights. She educated us with a plethora of the local knowledge we are privy to, and was attentive to all questions. The nights spent camping under the stars with swags, a team effort with camp duties, we truly had an all-encompassing outback tour. Can't recommend this tour with Mulga's to take you enough. We would not have found out as much local knowledge about this place if it wasn't for the generosity and knowledge that our tour guide Tegan had shared with us. This experience will be engrained in me for life. Tegan also supported me with some major growth over the tour and I did thing's I never thought I could do. The tour itself was fantastic, you spend the first day at Uluru and start at the Cultural Centre which is vital to get a sense of place and to respect the Anangu.You then see some amazing sites around Uluru and finish with the sunset over Uluru. It's an early wake up after a night camping around the campfire and the swag to see sunrise over Kata Tjuta and then the incredible walk through the valley of the winds. Followed by a visit to King's Creek Station and walking Watarrka (King's Canyon). The last night at bush camp was the best around the campfire and no phone reception. Tegan's games made this even more memorable. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough, don't miss it for a truly unique experience. read less

You'll get to see all amazing places, including a beautiful sunset at Uluru and sunrise view of Kata Tjuta. Don't forget the night sky in between as you'll be sleeping in a swag. Our tour guide, Laura, was great at telling us about the history, both geological and spiritual, being very respectful to aboriginal people and their culture. Next to that she had timed her playlists perfectly to every moment and kept us very well fed at all times. The tour is well organised with early starts to see the sunrises and avoid hiking in the peak heat. The camps were all well equipped and had warm showers. Simon our tour guide is knowledgeable, funny, personable and made the experience so genuine and fun. The group was mixed with young people of all ages and if you’re not young it doesn’t matter you just need to be young at heart. Sleeping in swags was an experience but after seeing so many shooting stars it is absolutely worth the experience. The food was good and catered for dietary needs, being gluten free this added peace of mind. The Kings Canyon hike, finished by bush camp sleeping made it the most memorable day. James and Simon were explaining the history and culture of each place that we went to, and had such a great energy about them which really influenced the rest of the group. Olivia (Liv) was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide who was kind but also ran the trip efficiently and softly encouraged everyone to get to know each other/get out of their comfort zones. I really enjoyed the hikes - I only wish we could’ve gone on longer hikes or maybe done two shorter hikes in a day, but I understand we are limited by the daytime heat and that many areas are off-limits for non-indigenous folks. The stars were one of my favorite parts of the trip, though the sunrises/sunsets were pretty unbeatable as well. Also, do yourself a favor and bring a fly net (even in spring)!! read less

The camping was brilliant, swags comfortable, campfires cosy, the surround of nature's sounds so relaxing.The tour itself was fantastic. Early starts but to the sounds of some wonderful music playing through the Bluetooth speaker. Loads packed into each day and as it was hot there it was necessary to start early. You get to see some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets and gain the advantage of doing the treks when it's slightly cooler. The guide, Rachel, was awesome. Enthusiastic, funny and hugely insightful about the history and practices of the area. An absolute pleasure to have her as our tour guide.This offers the chance to really switch off from everything, I recommend putting the phone away apart from when taking pictures, the phone will be out a lot for that 😀 Nourishment wise the food was excellent. I've been on some tours where you would be going rather hungry from time to time. No chance of that here. Abundance of food and a chance to sample a few items you wouldn't normally get too. A all hands on deck approach with prep cooking and wash up. Great for integrating with the group on the first day and I met some really cool people on the tour as a whole too. I would recommend Mulgas to anyone wishing to tour the area without a moment's hesitation. read less

The guide was excellent and took us to amazing locations while also educating us on the significance of the sites to the aboriginal people who lived there. The trip completely exceeded my expectations thanks to Lauren. From sunrises and sunsets at Uluru, to hiking up heart attack hill at Kings Canyon, it was such an incredible experience!! Lauren was just an exceptional guide and I couldn't have asked for better. She was so much fun, so kind and full of information about all of the sites! We even got a few stories about the stars which I loved! The experience as a whole was amazing from start to finish. It was alot more outback than I expected, but Lauren went out of her way to make us feel more comfortable and after leaning into the experience, I fell in love with swag camping! Sleeping around the campfire and under the stars every night was more magnificent than I ever expected. Food was amazing, getting everyone involved and trying a real aussie bbq of kangaroo! Plenty of fruit and snacks to keep you going throughout the day. The tour is perfect for solo travellers or people in small groups as you have a great mix of both! I met so many amazing people on the trip from all over the world and of all different ages. I would highly recommend this tour to really experience Central Australia, as from living in Sydney this is very different, but in the best way possible! Alex was the tour leader and James was the trainee tour guide.The bus was comfortable and clean with books about the region, and the history of the things we were going to see on tour as well as games to keep us occupied.Alex was very knowledgeable about everything we were seeing, whether it was teaching us about the myriad of Flora and Fauna, to the history of the places we toured and also explaining about the wildlife. He made the tour very interesting and educational.The food was amazing. Fresh, plentiful and there was a wide variety of cuisine. The bush BBQ was absolutely awesome. Alex made a fresh damper and cooked it on the campfire. First day was very special having sparkling wine and snacks watching the sun setting at Uluru.James was a great trainee. He asked questions, made written notes, was extremely helpful in also looking after us and, like Alex, he made sure we had everything we needed, organised games, did some awesome cooking. Alex was also great mentor to James.Also, in terms of dietary preferences, Alex ensured the individuals who put down specific dietary needs/food allergies were well informed as to their choices and if there was anything else he could do to ensure they had a safe food experience.I also loved that near the end of the walk, Alex went on ahead to cut up a delicious bowl of fresh fruit for when we finished the walk.We felt safe with Alex and James. At Kings Canyon, Alex walked at the back of everybody going up the steep stairs to ensure we were ok as they were very rocky steps, and he also made sure we were well away from the edge of the canyon.In summary, Alex and James worked so hard and ensured we were well looked after, well informed and were very knowledgeable in cultural awareness as we had many different nationalities on tour. They were very engaging with us and it was fun participating in camp chores and food prep. They were both good ambassadors for the corporate image of Mulgas Adventures.Alex gave a lovely speech at the end of the tour and presented us with our Mulgas T-shirts as some of us had booked online and everyone also was given a goody bag of Mulgas merchandise. A nice touch to mark the end of the tour.I enjoyed myself so much, that I am going to book the same tour near the end of the year.It can get cold, so maybe wear a beanie for bed, but the swags we had were extremely cosy and the sleeping bag I hired from Mulgas was so warm, I didn't need anything else. We had plenty of snacks given at the beginning, middle and end of the walks and there was a wide variety to choose from, but take some on the tour if you have your favourite snacks you like to eat, but I never felt hungry. The scenery is just stunning, a lot of very special places to see in the red center! The tour takes you to a lot of different places and walks around Uluru and Kings Canyon, sunrises, bubbles at sunset, even got to see some camels 😃. Very well organized as well regarding food and camping, we had a bbq, got to try camel burger and kangoroo steak, made a bonfire, sone relaxing time at the pool when the midday heat gets to much etc. And Liv our tourguide did an amazing job keeping the whole group in line and making the trip a fun one. She also had lots of interesting information about the area, cultural stories, plants, history etc. Nice to have a guide you could see loves the job and area, makes it fun trip plus lots to learn. I am not a camper and was a bit worried about the prospect of camping in swag tents in the bush, but it was an amazing experience and I’ll always remember it! Our guide Alex was amazing - knowledgable, responsible and made sure we all had fun but stayed safe too. We did three hikes, one per day, and the scenery was amazing. We got up early enough to see the sunrise and be finished walking before it got too hot, which was hard when the alarm went off but we all agreed it was so worth it! The food was also really good and vegetarians were catered for, but for meat eaters the meals were super high in protein and very tasty. There were plenty of snacks too, we never went hungry and you could manage without bringing extra snacks (although we chose to) We had a great group of fellow travellers and Alex encouraged us all to get to know each other and we definitely did that. Id 100% recommend for solo travellers! Pick up and drop offs were well organised and pretty flexible to people’s plans too. I have done a lot of tours in Australia and he is by far the best tour guide and person I have ever come across. He really made the trip so memorable and entertaining to say the least. He’s a really special person and worked so hard to make sure everyone was having the best time at every minute, even if it was 5am. Mulgas adventures tours are a perfect way to see the real outback in a short period of time. The walks are STUNNING! The stars at night are magical. Feeling very blessed Olivia was an absolute gem and genuinely an inspiring human. Felt very lucky to get her as our tour guide. Def deserves a raise ! Haha Tips for future travellers:- Bring a warm beanie! It is great to sleep in as your head sticks out the swag and also for mornings around camp.- You walk approximately 4 hours a day in the heat. It is mostly off roading, I really wouldn’t recommend doing it in trainers, get some cheap walking boots. - Not all loo stops had loo roll, bring some with you in your bag for emergencies. - This seems obvious but be prepared for wild animals, we had visitors from mice, dingos, roos and insects. Nothing will hurt you but just be mentally prepared. - Some campers are snorers, I recommend ear plugs! That’s all! I really recommend this trip. Ask for Liv as your tour guide if you can she’s great. But if you are on the fence about an outback camping adventure, book this!!! read less

He answered all our questions, ensured we were all well fed and that all of the guests on the trip felt included. There were 21 of us in total on this tour. Our group was half and half (couples and singles), all ages (18 to middle aged) and from all walks of life and 6 different countries. Everyone enjoyed themselves, young and old, singles and couples. In full transparency, doing this trip was my wife’s idea and at first, I was hesitant. I was unsure about sleeping in a swag (for the first time), the heat, the flies and how pitching in around camp would work. In the end, I loved all of it! The swag was super fun, comfortable and sleeping under the outback stars was out of this world. The heat was hot in the day but not so bad at night, even cool one night. The flies were annoying but didn’t bite and went away at night, and working together around camp gave us the chance to get to know our fellow travelers.If you enjoy meeting new people, trying new things, experiencing the outback in a very unique/grassroots way and having a lot of fun then do yourself a favour and book the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Rock-to-Rock Uluru tour. You will love it! I’m sure the other guides are great too but Phil was amazing. Thank you Phil!A few other things to note. We stayed 2 nights in Alice springs before the trip. And yes, there are cultural issues going on in the town. We never for a moment felt in danger or at risk. Don’t let this stop you from doing the Mulgas Adventures tours or visiting Alice Springs. We were able to safely explore the town during the day and acknowledge it’s uniqueness while respecting the locals and the current challenges they are going through. We also hiked over to the Mulgas Adventures property to ask a few questions the day before we left. And even though it’s mostly an industrial site where they store and maintain their buses and equipment, as it should be for a tour company, one of the owners Andrea stopped what she was doing and took the time to help us out and answer all our questions. She was friendly and welcoming and went out of her way to connect with us and make us feel comfortable about our tour. If I did it over again, I would just call or email Andrea next time but it was nice to meet her in person. She’s a hard working entrepreneur who clearly genuinely cares about her guests, the guides and the people who work with her. Thank you Phil, Andrea and the rest of Mulgas Adventures team! We were lucky enough to see it rain on the rock which is very unlikely, however this meant the road to King's Canyon was flooded and we were unable to do the full itinerary of camping and hike there, and on the last night camp at a bush camp. Despite the sad news, I believe the tour was still worth it, as we got to see Uluru again this time red as the weather had cleared up. We also got to see a few other places and we were dropped off at the local town to have a look and could go to a restaurant and pub to compensate which was really nice.With it being Laura's first time out of 130 tours to see it rain on the rock and bucket down at the campsite I believe she did an outstanding job of ensuring we were all okay and that most things stayed dry. We had the option to sleep in the laundry room rather than outside under a sheltered area (however 2 of the 4 walls were were exposed so rain could come in) which was a great alternative. Our bags and luggage was stored in a lockable dry storage area, or in the trailer or on the bus. The food was delicious, a large variety of different foods to choose from for every meal. The showers were nice and hot and clean. Overall it was such an amazing tour! read less

Uluru for sunrise was beautiful but my favourite was Uluru on the first night. Our group got to know each other and watch the sunset, chips dips and bubbles, a great start to the adventure. I was a little nervous about sleeping in a swag but it was worth it when I saw the stars, make sure to bring a pillow. Our tour guide Phil was awesome. Super organised, chatty, kind and knowledgeable. Straight away he got to know all of us, he project managed all our activities, camp, road trips, toilet breaks and snacks stops, (cut up fruit, apples, cereal bars, chips, dips, Tim tams - Phil had thought of it all) seamlessly, our group gelled well as a result. He answered many questions teaching us about all the beautiful places we explored. Tunes on the bus were decent too. 😃 read less

Had read all the good reviews and can honestly say that every expectation was thoroughly exceeded. Our tour guide Olivia was absolutely fantastic, and made the whole group feel relaxed and involved. Really engaging tour, with lots of participating including help set up camp, cooking and collecting firewood. This really made the tour something extra special and felt a sense of achievement at the end of the day relaxing around the campfire. The experience of sleeping under the stars every night is honestly something I'll never forget. The Bush camp (the final night of the 4 day tour) was so cool really feeling like you're properly in the outback. The walks and the sights were amazing but the overall experience with the guide and the food really brought it to a whole new experience. I don't eat gluten or dairy and every single meals and snacks had options for me, I ate more than I normally eat at home & it was really yummy! Ben, our guide, was fantastic. We saw rainbows above the canyons, lightnings above Uluru, horses and dingo’s on the road and heaps of other indescribable magical views.The tour is incredible well organized. Our guide is so experienced, that she knows how to react on the weather as well. We were sleeping outside under the stars, woke up early to catch the sunrises and to get ready for our hikes before the heat would kick in. When the rain came around, she knew what to do and made sure that we wouldn’t get soaked. We went to the best places for a nice picture, were first in line for the parks and viewpoints and the music and humor at the bus was beyond! ;)Don’t think twice before booking this tour. Our guide, Adam, was so insightful, I felt safe all the time and he was always willing to help. Despite lacking in sleep and having a lot to do and look after, he was patient and kind. I loved how active we were, food was good considering the facilities and accessibility. I highly recommend getting a fly net, loads of bug spray and in the hot weather, bring a sleeping bag liner instead of a sleeping bag. read less

The tour guide, James, was really enthusiastic and made it a great experience. We visited Uluru, Kata Tjuta and King's Canyon. We also had some quick stop offs at the cultural centre and a salt lake. The food was all really good, including camel and kangaroo. The swag camping was a really cool experience and very cozy! We saw camels, cute spinifex hopping mice and a dingo. I chose the 4 day rock to rock tour with 24 others on mulgas and it was fab. Lauren our tour guide was fantastic. She really thought of everything to make our experience the best it could be - having a music playlist suited to each site we visited, and waking us up for sunrise gently with nice tunes! She had card games and things for us to do on the long car journeys and she was really knowledgeable about every place we visited and the outback in general! After I was quite poorly on one of the days she really helped to make me feel better! The tour itself is amazing, visiting Uluru, Kata Tjuṯa and Kings Canyon and learning a mixture of culture, history and geology. The tour really gives a mixture of everything, all campers chip in with collecting firewood, cooking and cleaning - I would add, as a 25 y/o solo traveller I felt this tour was suited mostly for young backpackers - I really had a great time! The camping in swags was much better than expected - they were pretty comfy too. Our guide Jason was amazing - knowledgable, got everyone involved and always made sure we all had fun. There was SO much food and it was always so tasty. I’m a vegetarian and there was so many meat alternatives - they don’t just give you a boring bean burger haha. We never went hungry as there was also so many snacks along the way. Our group was fantastic. Everyone got on really well. Despite going with my partner, there were many solo travellers but we all mixed - if you’re a solo traveller, don’t worry. We were all one big group 🙂 We got picked up from Alice Springs right on time and dropped back off when the tour finished. Only down side was the flies - 100% bring a fly net as they are lethal and in your face. However, they do disappear once sun sets. No cons for the actual tour though - the company were fantastic and we absolutely loved it. Jason was one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. Thanks for such a memorable tour, Jason! read less

From exploring the base of Uluru to witnessing unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, every moment was magical.And a big shout out to Alex, our guide, who clearly loves his job and this region (we could feel this passion through his explanations). She was very knowledgeable in her interesting (but random) bush facts and knew the answers to most of our questions. The tour is one of the cheaper ones on offer but in my opinion definitely the best. This is because instead of being put into posh hotels for the nights you get to spend time cooking eating and sharing stories round the campfire together such that by the end of the trip you feel like you have known your fellow tourers for years. By far the best night is the last night when you get the full bush camping experience. You dig your own toilet as a team and help prepare food for cooking on the campfire. An unforgettable experience even without the red rocks we all came to see. read less

It was a wholesome 'no frills attached' exploration of the area. We slept under the stars in swags and despite it being absolutely freezing, we were nice and warm in our -10 degree rated sleeping bags and hot showers. Food was plentiful also, and I definitely didn't go hungry as a vegetarian (vegans were catered well for too).Our guide Phil (aka Dill), was an absolute legend and a wealth of knowledge. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe the entire time and made lots of amazing new friends. The whole area is so beautiful and I 100% recommend this trip. read less

We got to see beautiful sunrises/sunsets on Uluru and Kings Canyon.Hikes included lots of photo opportunities and were lots of fun with fellow travelers who were all excited to meet others and experience this amazing place together.Thanks again for the great trip Mulgas! read less

Olivia, our guide, was gentle, and organised and led us to so many scenery places that no photo can describe. She always shared important knowledge about the land, plants, animals, aboriginal culture as well as many funny stories. The camping experience made the relationship within the group of previously unknown people grow stronger and the local food experience was amazing. I would suggest adding a pair of garden gloves as required equipment, once it makes the wood collection safer. read less

She was extremely knowledgeable and learned us a lot about the aboriginal culture with all of her enthiousiasm. I went on the tour with my parents who were at first a little sceptic about sleeping in swags in the winter. Nevertheless, this has never been an issue as all 3 nights were more than fine! The 5AM wake ups were not a problem at all as it allowed us to see so much amazing things! The tour was perfectly balanced and the itinerary was perfect. The food included was sufficient and more/better than expected. I would highly recommend this tour if you would like to experience the outback! What a MUST...! read less

I'm grateful I did it because I found amazing people! I have to say that Alex (the guide) was great! He loves what he does and he made sure we always felt good in what we were doing. I've never done camping before (and it's probably not my favourite thing) but I must admit that experiencing the outback in the way this tour allows you to experience it, it's wonderful. Being able to sleep with friends under the stars in the middle of nowhere it's something you have to do once in a life! I don't know what else to say if not thank you all! Grazie❤ read less

My boyfriend and I were undecided about visiting Ayres rock whilst travelling Australia, but after getting back from this trip it was honestly one of the best trips we’ve been on!! Laura our tour guide was amazing, so knowledgeable, hilarious, friendly and organised. We met the best group of people and shared some very special moments e.g sunrises and sunsets over Ayres rock. The camping was great- yes it was cold so bring layers in winter but the fire makes it better. It is very outdoorsy with little luxuries but the experience you get is one of a kind. The itinerary was extremely well organised, and we packed in far more than we could have self-arranged but with perfect cadence (Kings Canyon on the last day was a highlight for us!) Our tour guide Lauren was fantastic, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and clearly doing her best to maximise enjoyment of everyone in the group. A great mix of medium difficulty hiking (~7km half days with early starts, which is all you need in the hot conditions) and campfire and bbq (ample food and snacks provided throughout the day). Sleeping in a swag around the campfire under the stars was a highlight and super comfy. Be prepared to pitch in and gather fire wood, and contribute to cooking and cleaning around camp - in our opinion this added to the authenticity of experience and bonded the group and allows the company to deliver such great value for money. read less

Everything was so seemless and timed so well! Picked up with ease from the airport by our fabulous guide Lauren. We explored Uluṟu, learned about the culture and had champagne at sunset. The days at Kata Juta and kings canyon were equally amazing! We camped each night under the stars in sleeping bags and swags. I was extremely nervous about camping but Lauren reassured us throughout. I’m a vegetarian, the food was so tasty and versatile. Even got some veggie Bolognese cooked on the campfire and pancakes on the last day! The scenery is amazing but Lauren really made the trip so special! Her knowledge and respect for local culture was so evident. She was so enthusiastic and kept us all entertained even on the longer drives with bus trivia and great music! We were so lucky we got to experience the Australian outback with such an amazing guide ❤️ ✨ Book the 4d/3n tour, bush camp was amazing and 3 days just isn’t enough! read less

From start to finish it was a great experience filled to the brim with stunning sceneries and amazing opportunities to create memories. Our tour guide Lauren in particular was a star providing lots of information on the sites we visited and creating a fantastic mood during the days and at night. Cooking together was lots of fun and there was always a decent vegetarian option. Sleeping under the stars for 3 nights in a row was very cool and the sleeping bags and swags were nice and warm even though the temperatures outside were rather cold. read less
