From the start Janner was very easy going, very approachable and very knowledgeable. He was very patient with us and gave us plenty of time at each destination. We felt safe at all times with Janner as our guide. This tour was a great way to see the highlights of Uluru and surrounds for those short on time and limited with transportation options. Sleeping under the stars in swags was a great experience and the facilities at the camp sites were great, very clean! The tour was well paced, and we never felt rushed. The food provided was also top notch, we were able to sample some local meats. I would highly recommend this tour. Amazing value. Thanks for such a fun trip Janner!

I've never seen someone work so hard and still have enough energy to deal with our rowdy crew. We saw sunrises and sunsets over uluru, walked through beautiful landscapes, ate some seriously good food, and laughed the whole time. I can't overstate how good Ben was at bringing together strangers and tailoring the trip for all of us. He was authentic, fun, and he really knew his stuff!I really can't recommend this tour highly enough. I'll remember it for a long time. Thanks Mulgas! read less

If you are looking for a way to explore the rustic landscape in Central Australia theres no better authentic experience.
Being able to have the opportunity to sleep under the stars in a swag surrounded by nature is an aspect that really makes you appreciate the environment.
The level and quality of service was excellent. Learning in the hikes from an experienced and pationate guide was beyond rewarding. Janner took the time to answer any questions we had and provided a diverse explanation of the different landscapes featured in the tour.
There were options provided to the group with relation to the length of hikes. This made the experience feel very inclusive of everyones capability.
Janner ensured that everyone had an opportunity to explore and enjoy the experience in a unique way. This made the trip feel very personalised whilst being on a structured tour.
The food was fantastic and there was always left overs. You never went hungry and there was always plently of water available as well as remimders to ensure you're properly hydrated.
There was a strong sense of camaraderie in the group and a lot of this was to do with the type of environment. This is a perfect tour for a single traveler or a group.

This trip was fantastic from start to finish!
Pick up/ Drop off:-
Landed in Uluru. Got picked up and was given lunch straight away and headed straight over to see Uluru.
Got dropped off at Yulara to have time to look around and then got the shuttle into the airport (All explained to us by Janner)
Tour guide:- Janner (AMAZING)
Food:- Every meal was made fresh and the group all chipped in to help.
I am vegan and was full after every meal! (Partner says the meat was tasty also)
During all the walks Janner also provided us snacks and cut up fresh fruit after.
Camping:- Was a beautiful experience. Swags are kind of comfy and the hired sleeping bags are warm!
Showers:- Night one and two had hot showers. Night three was camping in the bush but then got taken to have showers at the first camp site.
You never have to feel unclean always have time to shower / get cleaned up.
Things to take note of:-
Do not pack heavy - Make sure to pack thermals nights do get cold.
Fly nets we didn't use as was cold - but can see why they are needed.
Walking shoes recommended (We wore trainers which was fine but now slightly stained red (LOL).
Make the most of the group you are with. We had the most interesting group of people from all walks of life and all ages.
Breath taking starry nights - Did not see one animal to be afraid of!
5am wake up calls!!
Would definitely do this trip again! read less

Our tour was a mix of mid twenty year olds to late thirty year olds and a mix of nationalities. Our guide Laura was amazing. She has an approachable, kind personality and was able to quickly bring a group of 21 people together. Laura made sure we were always on time and ahead of any other tour groups at the sites. She looked after everyone, made sure that we were all safe and happy. She catered for all different dietary requirements from gluten free to dairy free.I’m amazed how much energy Laura had after driving, guiding, cooking and answering all of our questions for four days! Especially loved that she organised games to play and activities to get to know each other. She really went above and beyond. Her passion for her role shines through and she is an asset to any tour company. The websites itinerary is a bit vague so for those going in future, this is briefly how it worked: Day 1: Laura picked those flying into Uluṟu up and started us on the Uluṟu base walk. A few of us were on a later flight which was delayed so she dropped us slightly further into the walk which was perfect. We then saw the sunset over Uluṟu with some champagne. Day 2: We woke up at 4:30am and watched the sun rise over Uluṟu. Then we hiked Kata Tjuta. This was more challenging than expected with some steep inclines and unstable ground with a rocky surface. Recommend sturdy shoes. Day 3: We woke up at 4:30am to hike the Grand Canyon. There are options if you’re not up to the 500 stairs and 9km main hike but most of us were able to do it. This night the campground has no showers, so it’s very much a bush camping experience! Day 4: We slept into about 6am and returned to use the (cold) showers near Uluṟu before going to the airport. Tips:- Book direct. I noticed a third party website had advertised dates that were listed as being full as on Mulgas website. I confirmed this with Mulgas and understand the third party website had incorrect booking information. - You must have 2L of water, minimum (this may change depending on the season). The guide checks this before you get off the bus to make sure you don’t become dehydrated through the days. - It gets surprisingly cold on the walks as you start around dawn. I had hiking pants that zipped off to shorts which were perfect for the change in temperature over the day.- Travel neck pillows make great sleeping pillows. - Small carry on size suitcases or sports bags are best. The trailer doesn’t have much room and you don’t need much so don’t bring a massive suitcase. - You don’t have to be an international tourist to enjoy the tour. About a quarter of our tour was Australian and we all loved it. read less

Right from getting off the plane to the last day was just an awesome experience right through. Our camp group had Laura as our tour guide and she is bloody fantastic she's knowledgeable, practical, funny and an amazing cook aswell and just a real good sort she can do it all!!From Uluru to Kata-Tjuta and Kings Canyon-Watarrka Laura ensured we got to see and experience the natural beauty of these wonderful sites and was able to educate us about the history along the way. She ensured we stayed ahead of other tour companies operating at the same time. This tour camp is also a great way to meet people make friends etc and by the end of it with most coming from different backgrounds/nationalities we all got on like a house on fire in the end.You will also experience real camping from sleeping near bonfires in swags open air under the stars it was just magical. Thanks to Laura and the owners of Mulgas for such an unforgettable tour and camp experience. The tour included being 4 days in the Outback, sleeping 3 nights in swags under the stars and seeing countless shootingstars. At night we got visits from dingos, but no worries they weren't interested in us. No running water and electricity was part of the tour, but therefore we had unbelievable sunsets, sunrises, views and landscapes.Big credits to Laura for being an amazing tour guide (with good knowledge about the area and history), driver, cook, singer and so much more. read less

Our beautiful guide Nicole was an excellent motivator getting us up early to ensure we did not miss out on the great experience. Excellent cooking skills and even shared the secret potato bake recipe as well as the bush bread. Excellent meals were prepared however this was not the reason for the trip.
This is certainly the trip to go where you can experience nature at its finest and it makes one feel so insignificant on the grand scheme of things. Certainly a privelege to experience nature like this at its finest and Nicole made the experience even better.
Thanks Nicole for a great experience 😊 and wish you and the team only the very best.

Laura certainly was a lot of fun to have as a tour guide and did everything to make our tour as positive, informative and successful as possible. It was Laura’s 98th tour with the company so she certainly had experience and you could definitely tell she was passionate in regards to the outback landscape, culture and tourist industry in general. She certainly had some good stories to tell.
My favourite parts on the tour were sleeping in front of the fire under the stars and the Kings Canyon walk. Although I did also really enjoy the other walks and sunrises / sunsets.
The tour does involve participation in assisting in preparing meals, washing up, packing and unpacking campsites. On our tour, there was certainly enough food with left overs. I didn’t have any dietary requirements, but I would suggest speaking to the tour guide on the first day to ensure your requirements are met. During all days, there were plenty of snacks provided.
The first two nights are at camp sites that have toilets / shower facilities which were clean and easily accommodate the group. On the last night, you are roughing it at a campsite with no shower and just one toilet for the entire group. It wasn’t a bad thing as it was a fun experience and there is opportunity to shower the next day prior to finishing the tour.
Things to note:
Expect some early starts to see sunrises.
It’s a fairly fast paced tour and you will need to keep up with a fairly structured itinerary. I wouldn’t say we were rushed when doing activities, however, you are kept busy each day.
Given it is a participation tour, you will need to help out in collecting firewood. I have to admit, I did wonder why the tour company didn’t provide a chain saw to make collecting firewood more efficient. However, in the end, with everyone helping out, the job gets done.
Be aware there is some distance travelled on the bus between destinations on this tour, particularly if you are starting and finishing at Alice Springs.
The swags are basic and not the ones with poles.
On my tour, we had about half the individuals on the tour were in the 20s and other half were either in their 30s/40s.
I give the tour 5 stars for the following main reasons
With all that is included (bus transfers to destinations, meals, tour guide) it’s really good value for money. Obviously, you could organise and do the trip on your own accord. However, I honestly don’t think you will be able to do it for too much cheaper than what you pay for the tour. And on the tour, you have a knowledge of the guide and you also get to meet lots of interesting people.
Tour guide Laura was very fun, passionate and knowledgeable. There were a few surprises and things she did that went above and beyond what I expected of her as a tour guide.
Certainly, glad I did the trip and would recommend to friends and family. read less

We really enjoyed every aspect of the tour, with a special thanks to our guide Nicol who made it so memorable.
All of the sights we visited on the tour were amazing in their own way, thank you Nicol for sharing your abundance of knowledge with us. We learnt so much from Nicol about the different sites, cultural significance, aboriginal communities, geology, landscapes and environments. You can expect early starts each morning and hikes ranging from 6km-10km each day, we personally enjoyed this and didn't struggle with anything, but I don't think everybody in the group anticipated this so it's useful to be aware beforehand.
Each night we stayed in a different campsite, our favourite was the bush camp on the final night which was completely secluded with no facilities - amazing outback experience including cooking on the campfire. Sleeping under the stars every night was wonderful, as well as making our own campfires. It can get pretty chilly at night but if you wrap up warm the swags are pretty comfortable, I was nervous about sleeping in a swag before the tour but felt very safe when it came to it. The first two campsites have great amenities including hot showers. This is a group participation tour so everybody in the group is required to lend a hand in cooking and cleaning when it comes to meal times, as well as collecting firewood each day before heading to the campsite. For us, this is all part of the authentic camping experience and we were happy to get involved, but some people seemed surprised that everything wasn't done for them. We are vegetarian and we were well catered for throughout the trip, there was enough food for everybody to have seconds, if not more. Meat eaters get the chance to try kangaroo and camel, which both seemed to be crowd pleasers in our group.
If joining the tour in Alice Springs there is obviously a lot of driving involved. We found the time spent travelling to be okay, we made more than enough stops on each journey to stretch our legs/buy snacks etc. We started and finished in Alice, on day four we left the first campsite at 6:30am and didn't arrive back in Alice until 6:30pm, doing very little in between other than driving/waiting around - lunch was also not provided on this day. By taking the three day tour you would cut out a large chunk of the driving on the last day, but it does mean that you miss out on the bush camp on the third night which was a highlight for us. Personally, we are still happy that we chose the four days as we really enjoyed spending the extra night with our group and the one of a kind wilderness experience in the bush camp, but the other three day option is available if the driving sounds too much for you.
All in all, our tour was very well organised and informative. Nicol is extremely passionate about her job which makes her the perfect tour guide. We were kept very busy on this tour, we came away with so many new experiences. Whilst the tour is very structured, it is worth saying that we didn't feel rushed - we were given enough time to really take in everything around us. My personal highlight - watching the sunset at Uluru.
If you're considering one of the Mulga's tours, step out of your comfort zone and try something new. All you need is an open mind - embrace the once in a lifetime experiences and don't look back! read less
