We were on our feet for most of the day, from sunrise to sunset and then stargazing. Because the tour was very well organised, every minute of our stay in the outback was used well, so that we got to see as much as possible, while ideally staying ahead of the other tour groups. The vibe was really good and the people in our group really fun. We all worked together to collect wood for fire, cook and clean. Overnight we slept in swags and sleeping bags under the sky. That was a lot warmer and comfortable than I could've ever imagined. If you can, try to go while there's new moon so that the sky is darker and you can see more stars!Last but not least, our tour guide Lauren was amazing! She couldn't have done a better job! She shared her great knowledge on the aboriginal culture and the geological origins of these beautiful rock formations and did a great job with guiding the group through the outback!I can only recommend going to Uluru, it's probably the highlight of my entire Australia trip. This tour is perfect for backpackers looking for a budget and real-aussie experience in the red centre. read less

A massive shoutout to the legendary Ben! We had a really great group but we wouldn’t have had that much fun without him. Some key highlights:- Learning about the places in such an incredible way. It was a good balance of First Nations knowledge, history and science. Ben delivered the knowledge in such a fun way he could be a teacher! I don’t think I would’ve understood how orogeny happens if he didn’t explain it the way he did.- As someone who loves trekking, I was grateful that we got to take our time to do the longest tracks in every place and enjoy them instead of being rushed. We trekked 7-8km almost every day in Uluṟu, Kata Tjuṯa, Watarrka. They were worth the 5am wake-up calls every morning. We also got some cool tunes to wake up to so the early hours weren’t too rough.- Sleeping under the stars with a clear view of the Milky Way every day was incredible. I was nervous about sleeping in the outdoors, in a swag, in the desert/bush in the dead of winter but the swags and sleeping bags were very warm. We slept around the fire every night too.- We were fed VERY well, and always had energy to do all of the physical activities that the tour entails. For example, we always began a trek with some muesli bars and ended it with fruit (on top of brekky). I am impressed at how many brekky options we got every morning! We had really hearty and delicious lunch and especially dinner. The consensus agreed that Ben’s cooking is superb. I have had many kangaroo steaks but the one I had on this trip was the best one. Ben also pulled off an incredible caramel cake that was baked in the fire. I truly appreciated Mulgas accomodating my dietary requirement too (dairy free).- The best part of all was the participatory nature of the tour. We helped with the cooking, washing up, carrying eskies and containers, even finding firewood! It was a fun way to get to know the other amazing participants in the tour. Mulgas adventures tours are a perfect way to see the real outback in a short period of time. The walks are STUNNING! The stars at night are magical. Feeling very blessed Olivia was an absolute gem and genuinely an inspiring human. Felt very lucky to get her as our tour guide. Def deserves a raise ! Haha Tips for future travellers:- Bring a warm beanie! It is great to sleep in as your head sticks out the swag and also for mornings around camp.- You walk approximately 4 hours a day in the heat. It is mostly off roading, I really wouldn’t recommend doing it in trainers, get some cheap walking boots. - Not all loo stops had loo roll, bring some with you in your bag for emergencies. - This seems obvious but be prepared for wild animals, we had visitors from mice, dingos, roos and insects. Nothing will hurt you but just be mentally prepared. - Some campers are snorers, I recommend ear plugs! That’s all! I really recommend this trip. Ask for Liv as your tour guide if you can she’s great. But if you are on the fence about an outback camping adventure, book this!!! read less

Janner ist ein wahres Multitasking-Talent und einfach ein cooler Dude mit herrlichen Musikgeschmack bei dem man sich wohlgefühlt hat. Er hat für alle wunderbar gekocht, gemeinsam mit uns Lagerfeuer gemacht unter dem Sternenhimmel und sehr schöne Wanderungen durchgeführt. Das Schlafen in swags war dabei ein einzigartiges Camping-Erlebnis. Insgesamt richtet sich die Tour vor allem an kommunikative und offene Adventurer, die auch mal mit anpacken. Leider waren bei unserer Gruppe einige Personen mit dabei die ziemlich lame waren. Somit steht und fällt das Abenteuer auch immer ein wenig mit der Gruppe. Aber Janner hat das alles mit seiner sympathischen und coolen Art wett gemacht. Ich kann Mulga und Janner daher nur wärmstens empfehlen wenn sie eine Reise zum Uluru planen. read less

Both very knowledgeble and friendly. There was an amazing vibe and in the 4 days we did so much exploring. The days were filled with hikes, sunrises, sunset, good food, good campsites and on top of that we learned a lot about the aboriginal culture! You fall asleep under the stars and next to a bonfire which in my opinion is one of the best experiences i've had in Australia.I think this tour is a must do whenever you visit Alice springs or thinking about going to the outback! Just keep in mind that it can get really cold at night and in the early mornings, so make sure you bring enough warm clothes :). read less

I have done a lot of tours in Australia and he is by far the best tour guide and person I have ever come across. He really made the trip so memorable and entertaining to say the least. He’s a really special person and worked so hard to make sure everyone was having the best time at every minute, even if it was 5am. So I just want to thank him again for everything he did for us and I’m sure every single one of the 20 other guests on the tour felt the same. Including the food which was YUM by the way (not always the case on tours)Can’t thank him and the company enough! read less

The views were stunning and the trip was planned very well, everything ran to schedule. Our flight in was delayed, so we missed the base walk around Uluru on the first day, but our tour guide Olivia was great and made time for us to do the base walk on the last day. I made some life long friends and definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a bit of an adventure. Our tour guide Olivia was fantastic! She was super knowledgeable and had a wonderful way about explaining the history, cultural aspects and even the geological phenomena that created the incredible formations that we saw. She also took great care to impart upon us the sacredness and cultural importance of these sites to the aboriginal people of Uluru and made sure that we knew where and when it was appropriate to take photographs. Her enthusiasm was contagious and I believe it made the group more eager and adventurous, and - for a better word- “ less cranky” about the awful weather. In fact, she made us all see the heavy rain as a positive, calling us the lucky 2% that get to see waterfalls at these sites. We actually went “chasing waterfalls.”She was able to be flexible and turn on a dime when things didn’t go exactly as planned and made it all seem seamless. Thank you for arranging alternative sleeping arrangements for us on the last night which was meant to be a bush night. It was a wonderful way to end the trip for all. 5 stars for Olivia (Liv)!!! read less

Our tour guide, James, was so thoughtful and knowledgable about the land and culture of the Anangu peoples, and conducted the tour with the utmost respect for their traditional knowledge, practices, and wishes. She was very knowledgeable in her interesting (but random) bush facts and knew the answers to most of our questions. The tour is one of the cheaper ones on offer but in my opinion definitely the best. This is because instead of being put into posh hotels for the nights you get to spend time cooking eating and sharing stories round the campfire together such that by the end of the trip you feel like you have known your fellow tourers for years. By far the best night is the last night when you get the full bush camping experience. You dig your own toilet as a team and help prepare food for cooking on the campfire. An unforgettable experience even without the red rocks we all came to see. read less

The itinerary was extremely well organised, and we packed in far more than we could have self-arranged but with perfect cadence (Kings Canyon on the last day was a highlight for us!) Our tour guide Lauren was fantastic, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic and clearly doing her best to maximise enjoyment of everyone in the group. A great mix of medium difficulty hiking (~7km half days with early starts, which is all you need in the hot conditions) and campfire and bbq (ample food and snacks provided throughout the day). Sleeping in a swag around the campfire under the stars was a highlight and super comfy. Be prepared to pitch in and gather fire wood, and contribute to cooking and cleaning around camp - in our opinion this added to the authenticity of experience and bonded the group and allows the company to deliver such great value for money. read less

My wife and I went on the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Uluru Tour... read moreMy wife and I went on the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Uluru Tour (Rock-to-Rock tour) this past week, our guide was Phil, and it was the best experience of our 6 months stay in Australia!Phil was incredible! He answered all our questions, ensured we were all well fed and that all of the guests on the trip felt included. There were 21 of us in total on this tour. Our group was half and half (couples and singles), all ages (18 to middle aged) and from all walks of life and 6 different countries. Everyone enjoyed themselves, young and old, singles and couples. In full transparency, doing this trip was my wife’s idea and at first, I was hesitant. I was unsure about sleeping in a swag (for the first time), the heat, the flies and how pitching in around camp would work. In the end, I loved all of it! The swag was super fun, comfortable and sleeping under the outback stars was out of this world. The heat was hot in the day but not so bad at night, even cool one night. The flies were annoying but didn’t bite and went away at night, and working together around camp gave us the chance to get to know our fellow travelers.If you enjoy meeting new people, trying new things, experiencing the outback in a very unique/grassroots way and having a lot of fun then do yourself a favour and book the 4 day, 3 night Mulgas Adventures Rock-to-Rock Uluru tour. You will love it! I’m sure the other guides are great too but Phil was amazing. Thank you Phil!A few other things to note. We stayed 2 nights in Alice springs before the trip. And yes, there are cultural issues going on in the town. We never for a moment felt in danger or at risk. Don’t let this stop you from doing the Mulgas Adventures tours or visiting Alice Springs. We were able to safely explore the town during the day and acknowledge it’s uniqueness while respecting the locals and the current challenges they are going through. We also hiked over to the Mulgas Adventures property to ask a few questions the day before we left. And even though it’s mostly an industrial site where they store and maintain their buses and equipment, as it should be for a tour company, one of the owners Andrea stopped what she was doing and took the time to help us out and answer all our questions. She was friendly and welcoming and went out of her way to connect with us and make us feel comfortable about our tour. If I did it over again, I would just call or email Andrea next time but it was nice to meet her in person. She’s a hard working entrepreneur who clearly genuinely cares about her guests, the guides and the people who work with her. Thank you Phil, Andrea and the rest of Mulgas Adventures team! It was a very very impressive tour, so great to see all those magical places like mount Uluru, Kata Tjuṯan and Kings Canyon and walk through the land. Our guide Tegan was the best! She gave us a real good understanding of the aboriginal culture and could not have taught with more respect, dignity and sincerity about her insights she has gained while staying with and talking to members of the aboriginal culture for a long time. It was all very well organised, great spirit and fun with the group. Tegan also was running everything greatly on her own, when her supervising co-worker had to go to the hospital due to an emergency. Absolute recommendation to book a trip with Mulga! read less

I chose the 4 day rock to rock tour with 24 others on mulgas and it was fab. Lauren our tour guide was fantastic. She really thought of everything to make our experience the best it could be - having a music playlist suited to each site we visited, and waking us up for sunrise gently with nice tunes! She had card games and things for us to do on the long car journeys and she was really knowledgeable about every place we visited and the outback in general! After I was quite poorly on one of the days she really helped to make me feel better! The tour itself is amazing, visiting Uluru, Kata Tjuṯa and Kings Canyon and learning a mixture of culture, history and geology. The tour really gives a mixture of everything, all campers chip in with collecting firewood, cooking and cleaning - I would add, as a 25 y/o solo traveller I felt this tour was suited mostly for young backpackers - I really had a great time! The scenery was stunning, and the view at a few lookout points took my breath away. Our guide Olivia was phenomenal, she was so knowledgeable and made sure we all had what we needed and knew where we had to be. I liked that she told us a lot of information about the cultural significance of Uluru and encouraged us all to be respectful. She's great craic too! We were picked up at our accommodation in Alice Springs on time and our adventure started. Liv drove us to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon and several stops between over the 4 days. It was a great way to see "the red centre" and it's beautiful sights, I loved camping under the stars and being driven from place to place in the bus. The cultural commentary was clear and easy to understand as were instructions at camp sites and times to be back on the bus and how much free time we had. I highly recommend seeing the great sights of the Northern Territory this way. I'd go again in a heart beat. read less

And the heat was crazy! But the experience was so worth while and so well managed. Janner was the best tour guide I could have imagined. He ensured the whole trip ran smoothly, without stress or any surprises. He kept us well informed, well fed and well educated on the area and history etc. We were blown away by how hard he worked at all hours! The desert sunrises and sunsets were worth the long hours. Our guide, Adam, was so insightful, I felt safe all the time and he was always willing to help. Despite lacking in sleep and having a lot to do and look after, he was patient and kind. I loved how active we were, food was good considering the facilities and accessibility. I highly recommend getting a fly net, loads of bug spray and in the hot weather, bring a sleeping bag liner instead of a sleeping bag. read less

I felt safe the whole tour - hiking/driving. We were up very early to start our days and were woken nicely with music and food. I’m vegan and I always had plenty to eat. Lauren even made me a special batch of pancakes on the last morning, which I felt was going above and beyond to make me feel included. Lauren had me or the other vegetarians cook the veggie part of the meals so there was no cross contamination. This tour is for folks who are looking for an adventure among people from around the world, who are willing to help out with cooking/cleaning and like camping under the stars. The food I had were way better than I anticipated in the middle of nowhere before I joined the tour. The sights and sunrise/sunsets were amazing. I can definitely feel the respect towards the First Nations Peoples, their culture and the natural beauty of Australia. Also love that we are able to collect firewood ourselves and set around the camp fire to have barbecue food and casually chat while looking at the stars, which is never gonna happen in the city. It was a wholesome 'no frills attached' exploration of the area. We slept under the stars in swags and despite it being absolutely freezing, we were nice and warm in our -10 degree rated sleeping bags and hot showers. Food was plentiful also, and I definitely didn't go hungry as a vegetarian (vegans were catered well for too).Our guide Phil (aka Dill), was an absolute legend and a wealth of knowledge. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe the entire time and made lots of amazing new friends. The whole area is so beautiful and I 100% recommend this trip. read less

The communication with the office has been fantastic so booking was really easy. Alex was able to pick us up in town instead of waiting at the airport. Uluru was great but nothing like the rest of the trip. Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon were definitely the highlights of the trip. The schedule was perfect; between food prep, setting up camp and cleaning up there was just enough time to enjoy the moment. Alex was really good at leading the group whilst leaving space for a natural bond to form between everyone. I did not expect to enjoy this experience that much. We would not have found out as much local knowledge about this place if it wasn't for the generosity and knowledge that our tour guide Tegan had shared with us. This experience will be engrained in me for life. Tegan also supported me with some major growth over the tour and I did thing's I never thought I could do. The tour itself was fantastic, you spend the first day at Uluru and start at the Cultural Centre which is vital to get a sense of place and to respect the Anangu.You then see some amazing sites around Uluru and finish with the sunset over Uluru. It's an early wake up after a night camping around the campfire and the swag to see sunrise over Kata Tjuta and then the incredible walk through the valley of the winds. Followed by a visit to King's Creek Station and walking Watarrka (King's Canyon). The last night at bush camp was the best around the campfire and no phone reception. Tegan's games made this even more memorable. Cannot recommend this tour highly enough, don't miss it for a truly unique experience. read less

The tour was very well organized, and above all, our experienced tour guide, Laura, was very professional, dependable, and reassuring. She warned us of dangerous places and activities. If I had been traveling alone, I seriously would have fallen off the cliff. I appreciate that she guided us to the best spots at the best time. I saw a lot of impressive scenery. This would not have been possible if I had traveled alone. Sleeping in a swag under the amazing stars is a great memory, and Laura's guitar playing around a bonfire was also nice. Liv was an amazing guide always keeping the enthusiasm super high (WOO) and sharing so much knowledge about the creation time stories and geological formation of the sacred sites. I learnt so so much on this trip but also had SO much fun - dancing at bush camp, yelling Woo into Kings Canyon and looking down from the top part of Kata-Tjuta were definite highlights. Sleeping in Swags under the stars added so much to the experience and Liv’s wake up playlists were the perfect way to start the day! The food was incredible and Liv always managed to produce magic snacks whenever we stopped for a break!! Great experience, delicious food, amazing views, good length walks/hikes, comfy and warm sleeping bag and swag. Me and my friend did the 3 nights 4 day Rock to Rock tour, pickup and drop off in Alice Springs. We were lucky enough to see it rain on the rock which is very unlikely, however this meant the road to King's Canyon was flooded and we were unable to do the full itinerary of camping and hike there, and on the last night camp at a bush camp. Despite the sad news, I believe the tour was still worth it, as we got to see Uluru again this time red as the weather had cleared up. We also got to see a few other places and we were dropped off at the local town to have a look and could go to a restaurant and pub to compensate which was really nice.With it being Laura's first time out of 130 tours to see it rain on the rock and bucket down at the campsite I believe she did an outstanding job of ensuring we were all okay and that most things stayed dry. We had the option to sleep in the laundry room rather than outside under a sheltered area (however 2 of the 4 walls were were exposed so rain could come in) which was a great alternative. Our bags and luggage was stored in a lockable dry storage area, or in the trailer or on the bus. The food was delicious, a large variety of different foods to choose from for every meal. The showers were nice and hot and clean. Overall it was such an amazing tour! read less

The group of people was great and our tour guide Phil knew everything and could answer all of our questions. The idea of sleeping in a swag scared me at first, but it made the whole experience. The hikes were very doable and we could take all the time we needed. Last I want to mention that there was enough food. There were snacks throughout the whole day (fruits, cookies etc.) and the meals were more than enough, there was always enough for seconds/thirds. I appreciated that a lot! We were sleeping outside under the stars, woke up early to catch the sunrises and to get ready for our hikes before the heat would kick in. When the rain came around, she knew what to do and made sure that we wouldn’t get soaked. We went to the best places for a nice picture, were first in line for the parks and viewpoints and the music and humor at the bus was beyond! ;)Don’t think twice before booking this tour. The walks and the sights were amazing but the overall experience with the guide and the food really brought it to a whole new experience. I don't eat gluten or dairy and every single meals and snacks had options for me, I ate more than I normally eat at home & it was really yummy! Ben, our guide, was fantastic. He made the whole tour really entertaining and fun (yes even at the 5am wake ups) from the moment he picked us up in Alice. I could not recommend this enough!! read less

Alex was an incredible guide - answered all our questions, really made the experience enjoyable, meaningful and fun. The ideal person to be with when you are in the outback! The camping experience was excellent and we loved the sunset tours and hikes. Brilliant food, with great veg options. Alex’s damper was a highlight. Pinky the bus was fabulous too and a great place for a singalong and chance to share experiences with others on the tour. read less

I love the itinerary, being a 40+ solo traveler I enjoyed the outback fire and sleeping under the stars experience. We were well fed, and very lucky to have James (ex 2 Michelin* chef) to bake the best damper!James was well prep in all aspect of the trip. Managing many young travellers takes patience. Well done. Also, his personal respect for the land and appreciation for natures radiates through out the tour, which made it special especially in uluru.(Ps. Only suggestion is please add Sanitizer on the bus) read less
